Client Requirements
Centamin was interested in optimising the Sukari Gold Mine operation to improve throughput and recovery, reduce operating and all-in-sustaining costs and to independently audit the metallurgical accounting and Mine-to-Mill Reconciliation processes used on site.
Project Solutions and Approach
MineScope was engaged to undertake Operational and Metallurgical Accounting reviews at Sukari. This process was undertaken in two stages; the first stage being the collection and review of plant operating data and reports and a forensic analysis of the Metallurgical Accounting processes and systems, and the second stage, a follow-up site visit to independently validate the data provided, gather additional data, and assess the day-to-day operating practices.
The review focused on a high-level assessment of Geology, Mining, Infrastructure and Capital Projects and a detailed assessment of Metallurgy, Metallurgical Accounting, Process Plant, and Tailings and Water Management.
Outcomes and Achievements
MineScope prepared a detailed Operational Review report outlining site observations and providing 97 recommended actions. These actions were split into Immediate, Short-Term and Long-Term actions ranging from improvements in recovery and long-term plant availability, to risk reduction actions, to enhancements in operating and maintenance practices, to corrective actions for metallurgical accounting and mine-to-mill reconciliation.
MineScope then assisted the Sukari team to prioritise the recommendations and support the team to implement change on key outcomes.
